Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino, the writer of True Romance, Natural Born Killers, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and From Dusk Till Dawn and the director of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction just turned thirty-six. In his short life he has already caused more controversy than most writers and directors ever do. Tim Farad says," only one director has generated so much fuss on such a limited output and that was Orson Wells". Traction’s Pulp Fiction, which made over one hundred million dollars internationally, is also hated by many. The reason so many people disliked Pulp Fiction was because of the violence. Although Tarantino says: The violence complaint is like this giant spotlight they're shining in everybody's eyes, so they don't see anything other than that. If I was doing a swashbuckling movie, no one would ask, 'Why so many sword fights?' I'm telling stories in a crime film, and violence is a staple of the genre. It's a staple of what happens. It's life rearing its ugly head. It is an undeniable fact that Pulp Fiction is an incredible movie. It was only the fourth American movie to win the Cannes Film Festival's top prize, the Palme D'Or. Pulp Fiction also received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, and winning an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Tarantino's other movies also received a lot of attention for their violence. Siskel and Ebert gave Reservoir Dogs two thumbs down. From Dusk Till Dawn got very bad reviews even though the movie did very well in the box office. Tarantino and his producer Lawrence Bender have optioned for Elmore Leonard books FreakyDeaky, Bandits, Killshot, and Rum Punch. Tarantino plans to script Rum Punch and possibly act in it. After that project Quentin wants to do different movies other than his usual crime genre films. Quentin Tarantino was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 2nd 1963. When he was young he would go to the movies all the time with his mom. He went to see Carnal Knowledge and Deliverance when he was seven. By the time he was eight he took a liking to horror flicks. since he had such a love for movies he would stage scenes of combat with his G.I.Joe's all over his house. When he grew up to be a teenager he would skip school to go to the movies. After the ninth grade Tarantino dropped out of school. When he realised the only way he could learn tot make movies was by watching a lot of them, he took a job at a speciality video store called Video Archives. Video Archives were known for its movie mad clerks and along with Tarantino some became independent filmmakers. After a few months of working at the videostore he left and went to work at a small production company, where he met his producer Lawrence Bender. After Tarantino sold his scripts of "True Romance" and "Natural Born Killers", he started production of "Reservoir Dogs". When Harvey Keithel read the script for "dogs" he signed on immediately and helped raise one point five million dollars for the production. Quentin Tarantino is a master of storytelling and directing. He can create realistic dialogs and make serious scenes funny.

That may be one of the reasons he is so popular.
