The date

The second mainplot is about the date between Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega. It is actually not a real date, but a favour Vincent is doing for his boss, Marsellus Wallace, taking out his wife for dinner and show her a good time, and that`s it. Of course, Vincent is having problems leaving this beautiful woman alone in her house at the end of the evening, after all, she doesn`t look like caring much for her husband at the time. Vincent goes into the bathroom, talking to himself about «loyalty» and «trust», when Mia finds a pack of Heroin in his jacket and mistakes it for being cocaine. She sniffs it and overdoses. Vincent finds her on the floor and absolutely panics. His boss`s wife is dying and it`s only he to blame. Thanks to his drug-selling friend Lance (Eric Stoltz), he gets the help he needs to save her.

A theme of this second mainplot may be: Mia takes Vincent on an emotional ride, not just the fact that he`s got to save her, but it`s conceivable that, in a small way, Vincent`s not quite the same guy after having lived through that night. Above all, this part of the movie is about loyalty, and how a person might react to a crisis. Vincent is desperate and drives straight away to his buddy, Lance, who sells drugs. Vincent, of course, expects Lance to be an expert on this kind of emergencies, but Lance don`t have a clue, so he starts locking for his little medicine hand-book. After a lot of arguing about who is going to do what, Vincent gathers courage and stabs Mia`s chest with the adrenalinshot.
